There are loads of new airline routes that have either just been launched into service or have been recently announced. Many are perfect for your spring and early summer travel.

Allegiant Air

This regional budget carrier is preferred by many on the East Coast thanks to its affordable flights and routes to favorited vacation spots. Now, travelers can fly between Sarasota, Florida and Asheville, North Carolina or Baltimore with ease. The routes operate twice weekly, Monday and Friday.

These routes are available now. In April, Allegiant plans to further expand Sarasota accessibility, with service to Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and more.

Another American budget carrier offers service to traveling families headed to Florida. Earlier in February, Frontier launched service to Orlando from Burlington, with service twice weekly on Wednesday and Saturday. Frontier is increasing service between Burlington and Denver as well, though that doesn’t begin until May 1.

Frontier also launched service between Philadelphia and Montego Bay this month. American Airlines already offers this route, but you’ll find much more affordable options from Frontier so long as you’re okay with the budget airline’s budget-level amenities and experience.

Spirit Airlines

It’s worth noting that, while Spirit is a budget carrier, it does have an excellent on-time rating, so you shouldn’t totally pass it by. Plus, the airline launched a whopping 13 routes in mid-February, with the bulk of the new service originating in Austin.

The Texas airport now receives Spirit service to and from Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Detroit and Orlando.

Other new Spirit service includes routes between Baltimore and Jacksonville; San Juan and both Baltimore and Tampa; New Orleans and Denver; and Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale.

Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines now offers flights between El Paso and both San Diego and Seattle. The operations kicked off Feb. 19. It’s one of the only airlines to offer service between Seattle and Tacoma.

American Airlines

In mid-February, American Airlines launched six new U.S. domestic routes for some great new service from the Northeast. If you live in New York, you can easily fly to San Antonio on American from JFK or to Knoxville from LaGuardia.

The other domestic service includes flights from Washington to Oklahoma City; Chicago to Key West; and Philadelphia to both Key West and Orlando Melbourne. American has no competition with any other airline in Philly on routes headed to Key West, so if you live in the City of Brotherly Love, now’s the time to make a more convenient trip to the Keys.

United Airlines

United also brings some brand-new destinations to the table, with no competition on either of the routes it launched from Washington Dulles this month. It now serves both Asheville, North Carolina, and Lexington, Kentucky, from D.C., giving travelers from these two small cities an easy connection point to destinations all over the globe.

LOT Polish Airlines

If you’re a traveler based out of London, or you’re traveling to London and then on to other European destinations, you might be pleased to know that LOT Polish Airlines now offers services from London City to Budapest, a destination that’s been growing in popularity in the last few years. It’s the first service between London City and Budapest, although the latter does welcome service from London’s five other airports.

British Airways

Another new route from London City comes from British Airways this month. Now, you can easily travel from or into London and then on to Munich with three times daily service Monday–Friday and then twice-daily service on Sundays and once-daily service on Saturdays. It’s the first time the two airports have been connected.

For more service between London and Germany, easyJet provides new budget flights from its hub at Gatwick to Dusseldorf. Currently, the route is only available 11 times per week, but it’s being increased to 13 times per week in March.

Routes To Watch For

In addition to the new routes that just launched in time for spring travel, there are new routes on the horizon.

Norwegian Air is adding seasonal service June 7 between Chicago and Barcelona. The service lasts through Oct. 26 and features its Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The same day, Norwegian Air will launch seasonal non-stop service between JFK and Athens.

Royal Air Maroc also announced its fourth U.S. destination. Now, travelers based in Boston can fly three times weekly to Casablanca. This new announcement is in addition to the already planned Royal Air Maroc service between Casablanca and Miami, which begins in April.
