Frank Gatewood and his wife Betty have traveled for many years, but he still comes back to the AAA travel show.
“It provides a great deal of information centrally located, where you can pick it all up at once,” Gatewood said. “It saves a lot time.”
Gatewood said he’s looking at taking trips all over the world. He said this helps him to find out what to expect when he gets there.
“We’ve been a lot of places in the world,” Gatewood said. “You really can’t go until you know what’s going on and what the opportunities are.”
Travel agent Jacqueline Bass of AAA said that’s the purpose of this expo. It wants to help people get where they want to go.
“You can probably get the experience of the travel agents that are here,” Bass said. “They know more about the destinations, they’ve traveled to them and they also have sold different trips there.”
There’s also a new group AAA just created for single women. Bass said it’s a good opportunity for them to travel.
“It’s an opportunity for them to sign-up and travel with other women,” Bass said. “If they don’t want to travel by themselves. They have an opportunity to travel with other women that have the same interests they have.”
She said this may make travel more possible for single women.
“They won’t have to be afraid,” Bass said. “They can travel with other people for security purposes. Also for expense purposes. It’s an opportunity to travel with a reduced for no single-supplement waiver. If you travel by yourself, usually there’s an added expense.”
Gatewood said this makes him feel better prepared for his travel.
“We can review it and make informed decisions,” Gatewood said.
You can sign-up for the women’s travel group at any AAA office. It is open to any woman who wants to travel with a group.
